Transportation
Cagayan de Oro is located on the northern
coastline of the island of Mindanao. Mindanao is located in the southern part
of the Philippines. You can reach Cagayan de Oro by air or by boat. Lumbia
Airport is the local airport.
(http://www.flightstats.com/go/Airport/airportDetails.do?airportCode=CGY) Even
though Lumbia Airport is the actual name, it is most commonly referred to as
Cagayan de Oro Airport. There are regional flights to Cebu, Manila and Davao.
Those making the flight from Manila can expect to be in the air for around an
hour and a half, whereas from Cebu the flight only takes about 45 minutes.
For future reference, Lumbia Airport is set to be replaced by Laguindingan
International Airport 28 miles out of Cagayan de Oro. This airport will offer
international flights.
Another option to travel is by boat. For those who have already arrived in the Philippines
and prefer a bit of sightseeing at the expense of travel time this might be an
interesting way to see some more of the coastline. There are frequent trips to
Manila and Cebu http://www.superferry.com.ph/ http://www.cebuferries.com/
