A land-locked country in central Europe,
Austria is characterized by its mountainous, alpine terrain; only 32% of the
country is below 500 meters and the highest point is 3,798 meters above sea
level. This makes the country perfect for active, sports related holidays like
skiing, trekking, mountain biking or boating on the many lakes and rivers. The
capital of Austria is Vienna, architecturally a very imposing city, with a raft
of museums and theaters. Culturally Austria’s main contribution has been music
with a number of composers native to the country; the most famous is probably
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
