Situated in Northern Europe, Finland is
bordered by Norway to the north, Russia to the East, Sweden to the west, and
the Gulf of Finland in the south. The Finnish landscape is rolling hills, pine
forests lakes and inlets with 35 national parks protecting the natural flora
and fauna. The far north, or Lapland is famous for the Northern Lights, or
Aurora Borealis, seen regularly in the winter. Outdoor activities in Finland
include skiing, fishing, cruising, hiking golf, and kayaking. There are also
many cultural events and festivals.
